Daraghuyan Bukidnon Tribe

The Daraghuyan Bukdinon Community is one of the seven tribes of the Bukidnon Tribe. Daraghuyan means “people of the mountain,” derived from one of the mountains that comprise the Kitanglad Range where the tribe resides. Weaving is seen as sacred gift for the community that is bestowed among the tribal women only. The ikat patterns and colour inspiration appear in the form of dreams. The community performs a thanksgiving ritual before and after the weaving as part of its process. Daraghuyan only weaves using natural fibers called abaca and natural dyes from indigenous plants with some combination of commercial dyes to archive an array of vibrant hues.
